Widget IOM
The widget was designed by one of the greatest model yachtsman of all time,
Chris Dicks. It was originally built by Ken Roberts and had a flat deck
arrangement, this boat was highly successful and won both the European and UK
championships.
The boat’s first major redevelopment was done by Dave Creed who designed and
built a new skiff style deck, this improved the boat a great deal with the boat
winning the 2007 UK Nationals and 2007 World Championships sailed by Martin
Roberts and Brad Gibson respectively.
The latest development to the boat that Elliott Yachts is producing is a result of discussions between myself, Martin, Brad and Phil Playle. Although
the hull shape is the same as the original design there are significant changes
to the deck layout, fin shape and rudder shape. The new fin and rudder has been
under trials by myself for nearly 12 months with promising results.
